Pregnancy

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Please call the reception team to find out how to register your pregnancy with the local midwifery team.

We provide a full range of antenatal and postnatal care on a shared basis with the local district hospitals at Andover, Salisbury and Winchester. Clinics are run by the Community Midwife and held on Thursday's at Broughton Surgery.

  • The Community Midwives are based at Andover Birthing Centre. They aim to provide you with the best care possible before your baby is born, during your labour and then at home up to approximately 10 days after your baby is born.
  • Sarah, who is the main midwife assigned to our Practice, runs a 'booking clinic' every Thursday morning at our Broughton Surgery for ladies who have just found out they are pregnant. Please call reception to book; you do not need to have seen a GP first. This appointment usually takes place at around 8 - 12 weeks into your pregnancy. Follow up appointments will be at the ante-natal clinic, also on Thursday at Broughton Surgery. These appointments are for checking that your pregnancy is progressing normally; for you to get to know your midwife and for you to take the opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
  • You can ring the Andover Birthing Centre on 01264 352517 at any time of the day, or night, to speak to a qualified midwife if you have any concerns. Sarah will also discuss with you your intended place of delivery, whether it be at home, the Andover Birthing Centre, Royal Hampshire County Hospital (Winchester) or one of the other main hospitals in the area of your choice.

Self-refer your pregnancy to Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

There is a new way for you to register for maternity care at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Simply register using this website: https://www.pregnotes.net/SelfReferral/CareLocation/SHIP

This will notify your midwife team at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust who will contact you to arrange an appointment.

You don’t need to contact your GP - they will do that for you.

If you are foreign language speaking, or are unable to register online, please call 07443 987711.

If you do not wish to continue with the pregnancy please do not self-refer - you will need to make an appointment with your GP.
