Dr Gareth Evans

MBChB (Manchester 1974) MRCGP, DFFP, Dip Med Ac

Gareth, the Senior Partner, joined the Stockbridge Practice in 1981 and has seen the development of the Practice from its days of being a 'one-man' band to the multi-functioning practice it is today. His medical training was in Manchester and the North West. He then moved to Oxford for post graduate training in general medicine, cardiology and general practice.

He has been a GP Registrar Trainer since 1996.

Gareth's special interests are acupuncture and heart disease.

Dr Paul Manchett

MBBS (London 1974) DCH, DFFP

Paul joined Gareth in 1985, having returned to his native Hampshire.

His special interests are childcare, elderly patients and diabetes. He has also been closely involved with computerising the practice to try and make it as paperless as possible, and to improve communications with local NHS partners.

Dr Adrian Townsend

BSC (St Andrews, Manchester 1981) MBChB DFFP

Adrian entered the partnership in 1987. He did his general practice training in Sussex before moving to Hampshire.

He is interested in all aspects of General Practice but especially psychological medicine.

Dr David Simpson

MBChB, MRCGP, DCH, DRCOG, DFFP

David qualified at the Welsh National school of Cardiff in 1980 and completed his GP vocational training in South Wales before working in Australia and Bermuda. He joined Stockbridge Surgery in 1987 enjoys the whole range of general practice with interests including musculo-skeletal medicine, minor surgery, family planning and respiratory medicine.

Stockbridge has been a GP training practice for the last 12 years and David is one of the two GP registrar trainers in the Practice.

Dr Carol Ward

MBBS (London 1980), MRCP, MRCGP, DRCOG, DFFP, MSc

Carol previously worked at Stockbridge, before spending 6 yrs working in hospital cancer care in Southampton and Winchester. She has now returned and joined the Practice as a part-time practitioner. Married with three children, she balances her work commitments with organising a busy family and home, trying to get and keep fit and running a local church youth group.

She finds all aspects of general practice interesting, but special interests include family planning and sexual health, and cancer care.

Dr Julia Snyder

BM, MRCGP, DFFP

Julia studied medicine at Southampton University, qualifying in 2000. She did her general practice training at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital, Winchester, and worked as a GP Registrar in Winchester and West Meon, near Petersfield. Julia is interested in all aspects of general practice.

In her free time she enjoys singing, playing sport and walking.

Dr Kate Chesterman

GP Training at Stockbridge Surgery August 2009 - January 2010

I am originally from Suffolk but obtained my medical degree at University of Birmingham in 2005. After qualifying I spent two years at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital before moving to New Zealand where I worked for a year. On my return to England I was based at Manchester before spending the last 4 months as a volunteer in Africa. I am currently training to be a GP I enjoy many sports, including sailing and triathlons, and I enjoy to travel.
